The two “Award of Excellence” honors for the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics Main Street Pharmacy and for the design of Miron Construction Company’s Middleton Offices.
IIDA WI sponsors the competition held in conjunction with Equilibrium 2009 AIA WI Convention and Expo to honor the best work of the interior design community in Wisconsin. This year’s awards were presented by the IIDA WI chapter president Koreen Pelot, IIDA.

The new pharmacy is located within the two million square foot complex at the juncture of the hospital and clinic’s “Main Street”; the primary orienting circulation core of the campus. The Pharmacy serves patients from over 89 separate clinics, discharged patients from the hospital’s 20 inpatient units, and the ER and Ambulatory Procedures Center have their pharmaceutical needs filled by the Main Street Pharmacy.

By providing a functional, efficient and modern pharmacy via fresh and innovative applications of standards and new ideas, the Main Street Pharmacy meets the needs of the UW Hospital and Clinics outpatient pharmacy well into the foreseeable future. Additionally, the new pharmacy reinforces the UW Hospital and Clinics pursuit of the highest levels of performance, innovation and excellence, not only through world class healthcare but also through outstanding design. Ms. Hutchins was overheard exclaiming “Congratulations to the planning, design and construction team! The project is not only an award winning design; it was delivered on time and under budget! This was a very challenging project with multiple moves and temporary locations.”

This year’s submittals were juried by a distinguished panel of judges from the Northland Chapter of IIDA which includes Minnesota, the Dakotas, South Canada and Western Wisconsin
