The Unit was part of a six year initiative of the Hospital to update their Eighteen Inpatient units. The goal was to improve the quality of care for their patients, families and caregivers by providing an environment of warmth and compassion. The design of this unit provided a gateway and hub of their Cardiothoracic Units. The project created a reception area as well as a large central family lounge area for three units on this floor. The 15 rooms was designed to have the patients remain in the same room and are provided General to IMC carea s the state of their health dictates level of care. The Inpatient rooms as well as the support areas were updated to provide greater efficiency so the care giver can concentrate their time on the patient VS navigating the environment. The project design was a collaboration between the UW Hospital’s Interior Architect and Bouril Design Studio.
