13,333 Square Feet Remodeling
The Unit was part of a six year initiative of the Hospital to update their Eighteen Inpatient units. The goal was to improve the quality of care for their patients, families and caregivers by providing an environment of warmth and compassion. Patient, Family and Care Giver/Staff accessibility was hindered due to the aged design of the Rehabilitation Unit. The challenge was to meet the space requirements for accessibility for patients functional needs so the Caregivers could help them deal with their disabilities and adapt to live a normal life. Patient rooms are equipped with features like Motorized shades at exterior windows and ceiling mounted Patient lifts all while maintaining a more flexible residential atmosphere.
The unit was awarded the “Exemplary conformance” from CARF, the highest possible award for design and functional use of a Unit. The also had patient satisfaction improve from 76% before the remodel to an amazing 97% with the new remodeled Inpatient unit. The project design was a collaboration between the UW Hospital’s Interior Architect and Bouril Design Studio.
