Feasibility Analysis
“Do my remodeling ideas make economic sense?”
“Can it even be done structurally?”
“How will it look?”
“Will I need a zoning variance?”
“Where do I begin?”
These are all questions that we frequently hear. When you need more space in your existing home or just need the spaces reconfigured for better utilization, where do you begin? How your new space will function, how it might look and how much it may cost are all questions that are best answered with a Concept Design & Feasibility Analysis. Unless the design solution is really obvious, a Feasibility Analysis will take you through a structured process of analysis & design leading to a design solution & cost estimate with recommendations on how to proceed.
How does it work & what do I get?

The focus of a Concept Design & Feasibility Analysis is on the “big picture” issues of space planning, layout, form definition and site integration. It’s these broad issues that essentially define the scope of the project and design solution. The design process employs hand sketches and schematic drawings as a means of communicating ideas &solutions. If a potential design solution appears to be feasible from a functional & economic standpoint, you can then move forward with the next step in the process that eventually leads to detailed construction drawings & specifications.
Process
- Initial pre-design meeting to define and understand your thoughts, concerns, budget & goals.
- Site visit to review existing conditions & document as necessary.
- Review site related restrictions, covenants & zoning regulations.
- Prepare existing as-built drawings as necessary for design studies.
- Explore potential design solutions through sketches & drawings.
- Refine & develop design ideas using floor, roof & site plans, exterior images, and building sections.
- Preparation of conceptual cost estimate.
- Design presentation & review meeting with you.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
The process may take 3 to 4 weeks to complete but is dependent on the size and unique conditions of the project. Prior to the start of work, a fee is developed based on the nature of the project & the estimated amount of time required.
What do I need to provide?
- A written summary of your goals and objectives, images and pictures that depict your tastes and preferences, a site survey map (if an exterior addition is anticipated) and copies of deed restrictions, covenants andeasements.

- Exterior and interior photographs of your site and existing house.
- Copies of drawings and plans of your existing house if they exist.
- Any other information that may be helpful in the design process.
